Self educated Brazilian picture taker Sidney Gaspar archives the play of light and shadow in his dramatic scenes shot in high contrast. Scenes from Gaspar's day by day life in the port city of Santos are interceded by the craftsman's focal point, changing regular scenes into painterly pieces.
The mental scenes catch emotional urban vistas with discerning consideration as sky, ocean, and city go up against marvelous, powerful characteristics. Structural shapes linger like shocking skeletons, and mountains ascend from the cloudy waters in a scene that looks without human life, even dystopian.
